Originally BG3 was announced to be maxlvl10, however since then Larian stated that they've increased that, without specifying what the new cap is. all but 1 official module for 5e end before lvl15, most are recommended for around level 12-13. (glad they went with turn based over pause on demand ) The Average 5e campaigns ends at lvl13. I didnt care for most of the BG games gameplay wise but the stories kept me playing. (im not a huge fan of any game with a level cap thats not at least 50 but as a dnd fan i know most reg tables stop at lvl 20 or before, and we made our own campaigns for our god mode characters when it came to that ha ha) So the game might still be for you. The only crpg based in dnd settings i didnt care for was Temple of Elemental evil, mostly because F that module, its hard AF LOL But, i stopped playing this game because of the current level cap as well but i also realize that its prob gonna be raised to something realistic since its approx a 20 hr campaign right now, but they say its not even close to all of the content so id hope its lvl 16 at least, if not 20 for a cap. 02 cents as a gamer who played the og dnd when i was 8 and have played nearly every ed since. There's no gatekeeping at all, just the remark that this game might not meet his preference for strong levelling systems. That's where the /this game might not be for you" comes from. Nowhere did I say he can't enjoy it or whatever, I just reacted, to his obvious wish for a strong level progression system, which D&D doesn't have. I said it's more about story and dungeon delving as levelling, not that it isn't about levelling at all. So no, D&D is not necessarily the wrong game for him and this is some of the strangest gatekeeping I've seen on here to date. Heck, used to be you turned your gold into experience points, lol. D&D has always been about the leveling and gaining of experience as well as the storytelling/roleplay/exploration/combay/etc. In a TT setting it's entirely common, to not level for a few sessions, meaning sometimes not levelling in more then a month, and that translates partly to the game. :)ĭ&D in general is more about story and/or dungeon crawling, depending on group and gm and less about levelling. I enjoyed divinty because you had constant progression throughout your entire playthrough, which again Baldurs gate might have on release, but there are several things I dont like but from what friends have told me, thats just how it is in D&D so my just be my preferences dont line up with the games vision, which is fine. Yeah, at the end of the day it might just not be for me, I will try again on full release but will see. However you get most of your interesting stuff for each class around the levels 5-12.ĭ&D in general is more about story and/or dungeon crawling, depending on group and gm and less about levelling. the rest won't com until release.Īlso in general D&D might in general not be the right game for you necessarily.ĭ&D never really was about levelling per se.
